In the old days, learning how to scuba dive was a tedious process that involved attending a dive centre, sitting in a cramped classroom, and listening to an instructor drone on about decompression sickness and buoyancy control. But thanks to the wonders of technology, those days are gone.
The future is here, and it comes in the form of eLearning. Now, with every major SCUBA agency, you can complete all your course theory from the comfort of your own home, at your own pace, and without the hassle of cramming into a classroom.
So, the next time someone tells you that you need to go to a dive centre to learn how to scuba dive, just tell them to jog on, because you can sit on your couch, wearing your pyjamas, and learn about diving with the click of a button. Who said technology was ruining our lives?
Why is eLearning beneficial for hands-on training?
Not only is eLearning more convenient for the students, but it gives more time for the instructors to focus on actual hands-on training and to maximise the time you spend underwater instead of in a classroom. It is particularly true when travelling with the aim of completing a scuba diving course. By dedicating the necessary time to studying and preparation before departing on your journey, you can make the most of your holiday experience by engaging in a variety of other activities during your free time.
This approach not only allows for a more well-rounded vacation but also ensures that you are adequately equipped with the knowledge necessary to fully enjoy the scuba diving course itself and take your skills to the next level.
During your training, you can focus on filling in the knowledge gaps with your instructor before the dives or while enjoying a cold one after surfacing from an in-water session.
Quality over quantity
After pondering on this for a bit, we've come to the conclusion that maintaining a dive centre serves little practical purpose. Sure, a flashy dive shop in a prime location might attract more customers, but we're not in it for the numbers. Instead, we prioritise exceptional quality over quantity. Our mission is to make a difference in the scuba diving industry, focusing on our diver's safety, education and maximising our student's learning curve. Another benefit of not having a dive centre is that we are not limited to a particular house reef or nearby dive sites, but we have the freedom to explore and organise dives throughout the entire island of Tenerife. We are willing to take our divers to the hard-to-reach sites, as we believe it’s worth the effort to showcase those locations.
Go green and dive right in
Embrace sustainable practices and take the plunge into an eco-friendly lifestyle. Hold your horses, folks! There's more to it than meets the eye. Let me elucidate why we're not enticed by conventional and trendy dive centres like the rest of the crowd. It all boils down to a single concept: the planet. Our main objective is to minimize our ecological footprint, and by eschewing the typical dive centre, we're playing our part by forgoing the use of electricity to power unnecessary amenities such as lights, air conditioning, hot showers, and the like. We're fully committed to conserving energy, which in turn contributes to the preservation of our precious planet. It's truly a mutually beneficial arrangement. We much prefer being immersed in nature, basking in the sun or enjoying the tranquility of the beach. It's all about cherishing the natural world. Why bother with a traditional classroom setting when we have the vast outdoors right at our fingertips? Moreover, one of the numerous advantages of Tenerife is its delightful climate, offering sunny days and warm temperatures all year round.
So instead of spending a lot of money to rent or buy a glossy dive centre, we've put our heads together and come up with an exhilarating alternative: an eco-friendly scuba base camp that will blow your socks off! it will be a place that brings the community together
We're cooking up something truly special that not only offers a unique and memorable experience but also aligns with our values of sustainability and environmental conservation.
But, let's face it, to make a project like this happen, we need a substantial amount of funds, so it’s gonna take time, but the future's looking bright, and we're gonna make this a reality! So, we're rolling up our sleeves and putting in the hard work to create an epic base camp for all of us to enjoy.
I'll spare you the details, as it's all still in the planning stages, and we'll have blog posts coming in the future to give you the full scope of our project.
Dive with purpose
Here's the deal: if we all pitched in and did our part to make this world a tad better, we'd be living in a much healthier and happier place. I'm not talking about making grand gestures or going all out, but just doing whatever we can, no matter how small, to make a difference and inspire others. Trust me, it all adds up! It's time we start taking those baby steps to make this world a better place.
While strolling along the beach, consider carrying a bag with you to collect any litter you come across. Participate in organised beach clean-ups or engage in dives against debris. Incorporate reusing and recycling habits into your daily life. Make a conscious effort to minimise your consumption of plastic. Spread awareness about the significance of reducing plastic usage. These are just a few examples of what you can do to contribute to a better future for all of us.
Our goal is to promote awareness about the significance of collective efforts in safeguarding nature and our oceans. We firmly believe that substantial change is the culmination of the small steps we take in our daily lives. Each individual has the freedom to choose their own path in contributing to this cause. Whether it's through activism, participating in clean-up initiatives, adopting a vegan diet, or any other action, what truly matters is the willingness to change for the better.
So the next time you see us out there in our wetsuits, know that we're not just diving for fun. We're on a mission to make a difference one dive at a time and do our part in saving the planet for generations to come.
