This comprehensive training includes advanced decompression theories and the implementation of Surface Marker Buoys (SMBs) for accurate and safe ascent procedures when diving beyond 18 metres. Rec 2 training is designed to build upon the foundation laid in the Rec 1 course, integrating critical skill training while reinforcing essential techniques necessary for safe, deeper recreational diving.
This course can be done in Single Tank backmount, Twinset or Sidemount configuration!
Course Modules:
1. Personal Skills Review: The course begins with a detailed review of personal diving skills, focusing on fine-tuning buoyancy control, trim, propulsion techniques, and basic emergency procedures. This segment ensures that divers have a solid mastery of fundamental skills before progressing to more advanced topics.
2. Navigation Module: This module addresses both natural navigation techniques and the use of a compass for underwater navigation. Divers will learn to navigate effectively in various underwater environments, enhancing their ability to plan and execute dives with greater confidence and precision.
3. Deep Module: In this segment, divers will delve into gas planning and ascent strategies for dives reaching depths of up to 30 metres. The module includes practical training in the use of a surface marker buoy and mid-water ascent strategies, which are crucial for maintaining safety during deeper dives.
4. Night Dive Module: This module encompasses one night dive, during which divers will practise proper air-sharing procedures, navigation, and handling the loss of primary and backup lighting. This training is designed to equip divers with the skills necessary to safely conduct dives in low-light or nighttime conditions.
5. Nitrox Module: This section expands on the use of Nitrox 32, emphasising its benefits for extending bottom times and reducing nitrogen absorption. Divers will gain a deeper understanding of Nitrox use, including its advantages, limitations, and safe application in various diving scenarios.
The Rec 2 course spans four days, offering a blend of academic instruction, confined water practice, and open water dives. Throughout the course, divers will participate in a total of seven dives, each designed to enhance specific skills and knowledge areas. The course is designed to be flexible, accommodating the varying learning paces of individual divers. If a student requires additional training before certification, extra days can be added to the course for an additional charge.
