Non-Negotiable Limits
FlowState Divers training is organised into four bundle families, not a ladder of "levels" in the sense the wider industry uses that word. There is no "recreational" track and a separate "technical" track running in parallel - there is one discipline, built from the ground up, that extends outward into configuration, integrated scenarios, and various environments as a diver's foundation earns it. Every family assumes the same entry standard: a certified Open Water diver, holding valid SCUBA insurance, training under mentor governance.
XBASE - the foundation
The order is fixed and does not bend to preference. A diver cannot take Velocis before Mantras any more than a diver can take Mantras before Equilibria - each module assumes the competency built in the one before it, and skipping ahead without demonstrating that competency isn't a shortcut, it's a gap that surfaces later, at a worse time. A diver arriving mid-chain, with prior training elsewhere, is not exempted from this - they are assessed against it. A competency assessment day with a mentor confirms what's actually been retained before training days begin, because a certification from elsewhere is a claim, not a verification.
XTEND - configuration extensions
Sidemount, Twinset, DPV, and Stage Cylinder configuration, taught after XBASE as an extension of the same discipline rather than as bolt-on specialties collected separately. A diver does not "add" sidemount the way one adds a patch to a logbook. Configuration is retaught as an integrated craft - the same fundamentals of trim, gas management, and team redundancy, now applied to a different platform.
These modules are not sequential relative to each other and may be taken in whatever order suits a diver's goals, but each carries its own prerequisite chain back into XBASE and, in the case of Stage, into XPERIENCE as well. Extending your configuration before your fundamentals are solid is extending the wrong thing first.
XPERIENCE - complex integrated scenarios
Velari, Deyron, Exalor, Velmora, Noctane - five sequential modules, delivered exclusively in person. There is no purchasable theory and no remote coaching option for this bundle, because what's being trained here cannot be reduced to material studied alone at home. This is where isolated skills stop being rehearsed one at a time and start being tested together, compounding, under a mentor's direct observation, in scenarios that behave the way real dives actually behave: without warning, without convenient sequencing, and without patience for a diver who's only ever practiced one problem at a time.
Entry into Velari requires XBASE modules 1 through 5 (Genesis through Driftar) at minimum. Every module after Velari requires the full XBASE arc, including Furian, plus the XPERIENCE modules preceding it. This is the steepest prerequisite chain in the entire programme structure, and that is intentional - this bundle asks a diver to operate, not simply to perform.
XPLORE - technical expansion & domain readiness
How the tiers relate
None of these four families are ranked above one another the way "beginner," "advanced," and "professional" implies a hierarchy of worth. XBASE is not lesser than XPERIENCE - it is the reason XPERIENCE is survivable. A diver who has completed the full arc through Noctane is not more of a diver than one who has stopped at Furian and is diving competently within that scope. What differs is range: how many environments, configurations, and scenario types a diver's foundation has been deliberately extended to handle.
A diver's path through these tiers is theirs to shape in consultation with their mentor, constrained only by the prerequisite chains that protect against skipping the work a later module assumes has already been done. There is no fixed number of years, no arbitrary minimum dive count treated as a substitute for demonstrated competency. There is only the next module a diver's mentor confirms they are actually ready for.
