This page exists to be printed, laminated, and kept at hand. It summarises the figures and thresholds in this document that admit no exception, no matter how good a reason seems in the moment. It is a convenience, not a substitute - where anything here appears to conflict with the full text elsewhere in this document, the full text governs.
Depth, Gas, and Decompression
| Limit | Value |
|---|
| Maximum depth on air | 30 metres |
| Equivalent Narcotic Depth (END) | 30 metres, on any gas |
| Working ppO₂ (active phase) | 1.2 ATA maximum |
| Decompression ppO₂ (stationary) | 1.4 ATA maximum |
| Reserve gas | Amount of gas required for two divers, sharing gas, to safely reach the surface - or another breathable gas supply - from the planned maximum depth of the dive. |
| Bailout reserve gas (closed-circuit) | Same principle as open-circuit reserve gas |
Team and Supervision
| Limit | Value |
|---|
| Minimum team size (any dive) | 2 divers |
| Maximum team size (any dive) | 3 divers |
| Mentor-to-diver ratio | 1:1 (default) or 1:3 (regular dive team, maximum) |
| Group trainings above ratio | Not permitted, under any circumstance |
Environmental Conditions
| Limit | Value |
|---|
| Shallow water skill training | No deeper than 3 metres |
| Pool use | Strongly discouraged at every stage; supplement only, never a substitute |
| Confined open water - max depth | 6 metres |
| Confined open water - max surge | 0.3 metres |
| Confined open water - max current | 0 knots |
| Overhead diving | Prohibited unless the training standard explicitly authorises it |
Age and Human Factors
| Limit | Value |
|---|
| Minimum age (any programme) | 18 years - not waivable under any circumstance |
| Recommended max age for in-person training | 60 years (recommendation, not a prohibition) |
Equipment
| Limit | Value |
|---|
| Primary light - daylight, open water | At least 1 light required (primary or backup) |
| Primary + backup lights - night/overhead | 1 primary + 2 backups, at all times, no exceptions |
| Primary light Goodman handle | Solid metal only |
| Primary light battery duration (daylight) | At least 1× planned dive duration |
| Primary light battery duration (night) | At least 2× planned dive duration |
| Primary light battery duration (overhead) | At least 3× planned dive duration |
| Backup light battery duration | At least 1× planned dive duration |
| DSMB length / line | 90 x 20cm closed-end DSMB / 26 metres of line (unless training permits otherwise) |
| Gas analysis | Every diver, every cylinder, every dive - no exceptions |
Mentor Standing
| Limit | Value |
|---|
| Mentor renewal cycle | Annual, without exception |
| Mentor re-qualification cycle | Every 4 years, per curriculum/configuration held |
| Failure to re-qualify | Immediate Inactive status - no informal extension |
Complaints and Appeals
| Limit | Value |
|---|
| Official complaint channel | info@flowstatedivers.com - the only valid channel |
| Appeal window | 30 days from determination |
| Anonymous reports | Cannot alone trigger disciplinary action |
What Is Never Waivable, Under Any Authority
- Core diving parameters (depth, gas, decompression, ppO₂, reserve gas, bailout)
- Minimum and maximum team size
- Minimum age of 18 (the floor itself - not the same as a class-specific age threshold above it)
- Fundamental equipment redundancy requirements
- The evaluation-record-in-place-of-certification model itself
- The universal entry standard in Who We Train - Open Water Diver certification from a recognised agency, and valid SCUBA insurance. Programme-specific numerical or training-specific prerequisites may be waivable under the categories above; the entry floor itself is not.
