Version History
Every substantive change to this document is recorded here, in order, so that any mentor, diver, or reviewing body can confirm exactly what version they are working from and what changed between one release and the next. Citing this document in a complaint, an appeal, or a formal evaluation without first confirming the version in effect at the relevant time is not a reliable basis for that citation.
How Versioning Works
Each published version of this document carries a version number, a publication date, and a summary of what changed. Minor corrections - typographical fixes, clarifying language that doesn't alter substance, broken cross-references - are noted but do not necessarily warrant a full version increment on their own. Substantive changes to standards, roles, or guiding principles, approved through the process described on the preceding page, always result in a new version number and a dated entry below.

Version Log
| Version | Date | Summary of Changes | Approved By |
|---|---|---|---|
| Draft | 12/02/2026 | Initial compilation of general standards, guiding principles, equipment philosophy, assessment framework, mentor development pathway, and governance structure. | 04/10/2026 |
| 1.0 | 04/10/2026 | First formal publication, superseding the draft. Changes from the draft: defined permitted exposure suit thickness and depth limits (5 mm baseline to 30 m; 7 mm to 10 m maximum; nothing thicker permitted); specified the dive computer requirement as accurate timekeeping with elapsed dive time displayed in seconds; added pocket requirements (one minimum, two ideal; no dangling equipment); introduced mentor exclusivity; separated the Competency Assessment Record from the new Currency Assessment Record; moved all documentation to electronic, centrally stored records in line with applicable data protection law. | Babett Brunner |
| 1.1 | 06/10/2026 | Added Who We Train under Our Approach to Training, stating the universal entry standard for every programme (valid Open Water Diver certification from any recognised agency, and valid SCUBA insurance) and the organisation's position on why FlowState Divers trains only already-certified divers. Updated cross-references and related language in Structure of a FlowState Divers Training, Required Forms (Registration, Medical, Liability, Completion), Terms Used in This Document, How to Use This Document, Non-Negotiable Limits (Approach and Quick References), and Categories of Waivable Requirements, including explicit treatment of that entry standard as non-waivable. | Babett Brunner |
Superseded Versions
Now that this document has been formally published, any subsequent amendment will retain the prior version's full text in FlowState Divers' internal archive, accessible on request through our official channel, so that a dispute, complaint, or appeal concerning conduct that occurred under an earlier version can always be assessed against the standard actually in effect at the time - not retroactively against a later version that hadn't yet taken effect.
Confirming Your Version
Anyone citing this document - in a complaint, an appeal, a training record, or any other formal context - should confirm they are referencing the version in effect at the relevant date, available through FlowState Divers' official channels. Where a discrepancy is suspected between the version being relied on and the version formally in effect, that discrepancy should be raised through the same channels used to report other errors or inconsistencies in this document.
