Think you’re a competent diver? Most aren’t. XBASE doesn’t hand out certificates - it exposes hidden weaknesses, forces you to confront them, and builds skills that survive stress, chaos, and the unexpected. It’s...

Beneath the surface of most divers lies an uncomfortable truth: skills plateau while confidence grows. The illusion of progress is the industry's best-kept secret. You log dives, collect certifications, yet something...

Most divers stop practicing the moment they’re certified - believing skill was something earned, not something maintained. But diving, like any true craft, reveals its depth only to those who treat it as a discipline....
I truly enjoy witnessing divers move past those early hurdles and begin to experience what real underwater control and teamwork feel like. Seeing them shift from diving as clueless individuals to operating as a connected team - communicating clearly, supporting each other, and slowly embracing the FlowState mindset - is incredibly rewarding. You can almost see the moment when awareness, intention, and technique click into place.
XBASE gives them the space to grow that way. It’s not just a course, but a different style of training built on practice, responsibility, and steady refinement. The approach of these guys show this perfectly: four focused days with me, time on their own to drill and master their skills, then another four days of continuous development.
That cycle - intense guidance followed by real practice - is exactly what turns divers who "finish" training into divers who GROW through it.
Teaching students the most critical dimensions of scuba diving - such as gas sharing and rescue procedures - is both a pleasure and a challenge. As mentors, we must ensure that they not only understand the underlying concepts but also internalise the correct techniques. Only then can we release them “into the wild” with confidence - trusting that they will continue to practice these skills regularly, keeping them sharp and ready whenever a critical situation arises.
Wrapping up the Exalor phase of XPERIENCE, which puts my student through tougher, more complex, and higher-pressure scenarios - marking a solid step forward in training and gaining real diving experience.
It was a real pleasure working with Zotya and taking him through the core skills and knowledge behind the XBASE. He flew in from Hungary with only around thirty dives to his name, but showed up with more courage, curiosity, and enthusiasm than some divers with ten times the experience. The training had its highs and lows - as it always does - but he proved that you don’t need a long dive log when you’ve got commitment and a willingness to push yourself.
Now he’s back home, hitting the pool every week and dialing in everything he learned. He’s putting in the work, sharpening the details, and getting himself ready for April, when he’ll jump into the next chapter of his diving journey.
